History of Fox Labs

Fox Labs was formed in 1992 to manufacture premium defense spray for the civilian and law enforcement market. 

Soon after its formation, Fox Labs performed exhaustive research with leading chemists and law enforcement personnel to create pepper spray formulas that became industry benchmarks – Fox Labs Premium Aerosol Defense Sprays.

In 1993, FOX LABS became the first defense spray manufacturer to introduce 5% Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) using 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) resin.

In 1995, Fox Labs introduced Sudecon® Decontaminant Wipes, the current leader in pepper spray aftercare which most effectively reduces pepper spray burn by stripping away chemical agents including OC, CS & CN from the skin and eliminates OC spray burn within 7-15 minutes. 

In 1997, Fox Labs introduced an innovative pepper spray product formula breakthrough - FIVE POINT THREE, a 2% OC formula using resin rated at a true 5.3 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU). 

FIVE POINT THREE was a major breakthrough for law enforcement agencies because it provided unparalled stopping power while reducing recovery time and liability concerns associated with other pepper sprays.  Additionally, because the resin used by Fox Labs was so much purer than competitors and was used in a much lower percentage, the formula worked faster, creating maximum heat virtually instantly, meaning most subjects are compliant in 3 seconds or less!

In August 2007, Fox Labs introduced MEAN GREEN™, a green pepper OC formula consisting of pepper resin rated at 3,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).  The pepper resin is so purified it is virtually clear. The quality of the pepper resin used is unmatched in the industry.  Other manufacturers use low grade resin and then mix in other additives, which weaken the overall stopping power and slows pepper spray reaction time.  Mean Green™ provides intense heat, potent stopping power, is non-flammable and has a unique, easily visible green ID dye that can take days to remove from the skin.
